What Is Sasol Rewards?
Sasol Rewards is a free fuel loyalty programme at participating Sasol stations across South Africa. Swipe your card or scan your digital card every time you fill up and earn 30 points per litre — worth 30 cents — redeemable for fuel, convenience store purchases, or partner vouchers. The base return is roughly 1.5% on fuel, which adds up to R430–R720 per year for a typical South African driver without any real effort.
When Is Sasol Rewards Worth It?
Without effort: Fill up 120 litres/month at Sasol, scan your card every time → ~43,200 points/year → R432/year
With the 3 moves: Pool household fill-ups, time promotions, redeem smartly → realistically R600–R1,000+/year
Recent changes: Sasol celebrated its 75th anniversary with a 75-points-per-litre promotion (2.5x the normal rate). The partner network has expanded — you can now redeem points at Spur Group restaurants (Spur, RocoMamas, John Dory's, Panarottis, The Hussar Grill), Netflorist, and Nu Metro cinemas. A Star Level bonus system has been introduced, adding 5%–28% bonus points on top of your base earning.
How It Works
Where it works: Participating Sasol fuel stations and Sasol Delight convenience stores nationwide. Not every Sasol station participates — check the station locator on the Sasol Rewards website.
What you earn: 30 points per litre of fuel. 1 point per R2 spent on selected products at Sasol Delight stores (negligible — don't optimise for this).
How you get it back: 1 point = 1 cent. Redeem against fuel at the pump, in-store at Sasol Delight, or for vouchers at partner brands via the website.
What it costs: Free. Always has been.
How to sign up: Register on the Sasol Rewards website or grab a free physical card at any participating Sasol station. Takes under 3 minutes. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration.
Good to know: You must scan or swipe your card at every transaction — there is no way to add points after the fact if you forget. Redemption requires an OTP sent to your phone, which can be slow. Keep your registered cellphone number up to date, and keep your card in SuperCards as a backup.
The 3 Moves That Actually Matter
1. Set Up a Shared Account for Your Household
Link up to 5 family members or friends on a single Shared Account through the Sasol Rewards website. Every fill-up from every linked member feeds into one pool. A two-car household doing 250 litres/month combined earns R900/year instead of two separate accounts crawling toward redemption individually. The main account holder controls who can spend.
2. Never Forget to Scan
This sounds obvious, but it is the single biggest source of lost value. You cannot add points retroactively — if you miss a fill-up, those points are gone. Keep your Sasol Rewards card in SuperCards so it is always one tap away at the pump.
3. Time Big Fill-Ups Around Bonus Promotions
Sasol runs periodic promotions offering double or even 2.5x points (like the 75-points-per-litre 75th anniversary event). These are typically announced on the Sasol Rewards website a few days beforehand and tied to holidays or milestone events. If you have a big road trip or multiple vehicles to fill, waiting a day or two for a promo can net you significantly more points on the same spend.
Get Your Points Out (Best to Worst)
Fuel at the pump — 1 point = 1 cent, no conversion loss, most practical for daily life.
Sasol Delight in-store — same rate, handy for a quick snack or drink.
Partner vouchers (Spur Group, Netflorist, Nu Metro) — same 1:1 value, useful if you would spend there anyway. Available in fixed denominations (e.g. R50, R100, R200 at Netflorist).
There is a way to get significantly more than 1.5% back on every fill-up — see the Pro Tips section below.
Letting points expire — points lapse after 18 months. There is no "bad" redemption option in this programme, but doing nothing with your points is the worst outcome.
Watch Out For
- Points expire after 18 months. Sasol will send a reminder, but set your own calendar alert. Redeem regularly.
- Not all Sasol stations participate. Use the station locator on the website before relying on a new location.
- The OTP for redemption can be slow. Allow extra time at the pump if you plan to pay with points. WhatsApp (0860 335 444) is another reliable redemption channel.
- Phishing scams: Ignore any SMS or WhatsApp claiming your Sasol Rewards points are about to expire and asking you to click a link. Sasol has officially warned about these. Report them to help@sasolrewards.co.za.
When to Skip Sasol Rewards
- If you rarely fill up at Sasol. At under 50 litres/month, your annual return is under R180. If another brand is more convenient, their loyalty programme (even at a lower rate) will serve you better through consistency.
- If you already have a bank-linked fuel programme. Certain bank rewards programmes offer far higher returns — up to 50% back on fuel if you meet the requirements. Sasol Rewards is the best free, no-strings option, but it cannot compete with the top-tier bank deals.
- If you only want convenience store rewards. At 1 point per R2 spent (0.05% return), the in-store earning is not worth changing your habits for.
