What Is OK Count On!?
OK Count On! is the free loyalty card for OK Foods, OK Grocer, OK MiniMark, and other OK franchise stores across South Africa and Namibia. Swipe your card at the till and you earn cashback — actual rand, not points — on selected branded products. The cashback accumulates on your card and you can spend it like cash at any participating OK store. The returns are modest and product-dependent, but for regular OK shoppers it's genuinely free money with no catch.
When Is OK Count On! Worth It?
Without effort: Shop R2,500/month at OK and just swipe your card → roughly R300–R450/year in cashback (depending on which products you buy)
With the 3 moves: Swipe consistently, watch for cardholder-only specials, and use your balance before it goes stale → realistically R400–R600/year
Recent changes: OK Urban concept stores have launched as a new franchise format. No major changes to the loyalty programme structure itself.
How It Works
Where it works: Selected OK Foods, OK Grocer, OK MiniMark, OK Express, and OK Liquor stores across South Africa and Namibia. Not every OK store participates — some OK Grocer branches lack the software.
What you earn: Cashback in rand and cents on designated products. This is supplier-funded, so the amount varies by product and brand — not a flat percentage across your entire basket. Products on promotion and cigarettes are excluded.
How you get it back: Spend your cashback balance at the till in any participating OK store. Your balance works like cash — no minimum, no conversion needed.
What it costs: Free. Always has been.
How to sign up: Pick up a card at any participating OK store, register it by scanning the QR code on the back with your phone or on the OK Count On! website. Takes two minutes. You earn cashback from your very first swipe after registration. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration.
Member perks: Cardholder-only specials and discounts on selected products in-store. Automatic entry into OK competitions (including the annual Birthday Trolley Dash). You can also load funds onto the card to use it as a stored-value or gift card.
Good to know: Cashback appears immediately — your till slip shows your updated balance after every transaction. If your physical card wears out, ask any participating OK store to transfer your balance to a new card. The card itself doesn't expire, but shop at least once a year to keep your cashback balance active.
The 3 Moves That Actually Matter
1. Swipe every single time — even for small shops
The cashback is product-specific, so you never quite know which items in your basket will earn. The only way to make sure you don't leave money on the table is to swipe on every visit, no matter how small. Keep your card in SuperCards so it's always one tap away, even when you pop in for just bread and milk.
2. Check cardholder-only specials before you shop
OK runs in-store specials and discount vouchers exclusively for Count On! cardholders. These are often better value than the standard weekly catalogue specials. Check the in-store displays or the OK Count On! website before your shop — the discounts stack on top of your regular cashback.
3. Spend your cashback — don't let it sit
Your cashback balance is real money, but it can become inactive if you don't use the card for an extended period. Make a habit of checking your balance (visible on every till slip or at the in-store kiosk) and spending it down on a regular shop. There's no minimum spend threshold, so even using R10 off your next grocery run counts.
Get Your Cashback Out (Best → Worst)
Spend at the till — use your cashback balance as payment at any participating OK store. 1:1 value, instant, no hassle.
Load funds for gifting — top up a Count On! card with cash and give it as a gift card. Practical for birthdays or household budgets.
Some Infinity Rewards network stores offer additional redemption options — see Pro Tips below.
Letting it sit unused — your cashback earns nothing while it sits on the card, and prolonged inactivity may put your balance at risk. Spend it.
Watch Out For
- Not every OK store participates. At least 32 OK Grocer BVI branches lack the software. If your local OK doesn't accept Count On!, you're out of luck — ask before you rely on it.
- No cashback on promotional items. If you're a specials-only shopper, your effective cashback drops significantly since promotional products are excluded from earning.
- Cashback inactivity risk. The card doesn't expire, but the Infinity Rewards platform terms suggest cashback may lapse after 12 months of inactivity. Shop regularly to stay safe.
When to Skip OK Count On!
- If you don't regularly shop at OK stores. The programme only works within the OK franchise network. If Checkers, Pick n Pay, or Woolworths is your main store, their loyalty programmes (Xtra Savings, Smart Shopper, WRewards) offer more structured value with larger partner networks.
- If you only buy specials. Since promotional products don't earn cashback, a specials-focused shopper gets very little from this programme. Checkers Xtra Savings, which gives instant discounts of up to 25% on selected items, is a stronger fit.
- If your local OK doesn't support Count On! Without the card infrastructure, there's nothing to join.
