The Works Together Rewards

In this guide

What Is Together Rewards?

Together Rewards was The Works' free loyalty card β€” scan it in any store or use it online, earn 5 points per Β£1 spent, and receive quarterly vouchers worth 5% of your spending. That was a genuinely good rate for a UK loyalty card. The programme was permanently discontinued on 30 March 2024. No replacement has been launched.

What Happened?

The Works axed Together Rewards in March 2024 as a cost-cutting measure. The company was posting losses and needed to "rebuild margin and profitability." CEO Gavin Peck said they were "exploring other ways to reward customers" β€” but two years later, nothing has materialised.

The scheme ran from 2013 to 2024. Points earning stopped on 30 March 2024, and the final deadline to redeem vouchers was 29 June 2024. Any remaining points or vouchers are now worthless.

How It Used to Work

Where it worked: All ~506 The Works stores across the UK, plus theworks.co.uk online

What you earned: 5 points per Β£1 spent (after discounts). 1 point = 1p. That's an effective 5% back.

How you got it back: Points converted into vouchers every 3 months, emailed to you. Minimum 50 points (50p) to qualify, maximum Β£50 per quarter. Vouchers valid for 3 months.

What it cost: Free. Always was.

What went wrong: If you didn't collect any points for 12 months, your account was deleted and all points forfeited.

How to Save at The Works Now

Without a loyalty programme, the main ways to save at The Works are:

1. Use the Multi-Buy Bundles

The Works' real value has always been their bundle deals, not the loyalty card. Look for "10 for Β£10" kids' picture books, "3 for Β£7.50" paperbacks, and "2 for Β£12" jigsaws. These bundles are often hard to beat on price per book. Check the offers section on the website before shopping.

2. Check the Clearance Section

Clearance items start from Β£1, with discounts up to 91% off RRP. The selection rotates, so it's worth a quick browse on the website before heading to a store β€” or use Click & Collect (free on orders over Β£10) to grab clearance bargains from the warehouse.

3. Time Your Purchases Around Sales

Back-to-school (August), Black Friday (November), and January sale are the three best windows. The Works often runs 20-25% off sitewide codes during these periods, which stacks with already-reduced prices.

Get Your Money's Worth (Best to Worst)

In-store shopping β€” best experience, no delivery issues, immediate access to multi-buy deals. The Works' in-store prices are already deeply discounted.

Click & Collect β€” free on orders over Β£10, avoids delivery headaches. Lets you access online-only clearance items.

There are ways to get cashback on The Works online purchases without any loyalty card β€” see below.

Home delivery β€” free over Β£25, but The Works' online fulfilment has a poor reputation. Trustpilot average is 2.2 stars, with frequent complaints about delays and partial orders. Use Click & Collect instead when possible.

Watch Out For

  • No loyalty programme exists anymore. If you still have a Together Rewards card in SuperCards or your wallet, it's no longer active. If someone offers you a sign-up, it's outdated information or a scam.
  • Online fulfilment issues. The Works changed fulfilment partners and online sales dropped 14.7% β€” delivery complaints are common. Shop in-store or use Click & Collect.
  • Multi-buy pricing requires full sets. The "10 for Β£10" deal only works if you buy exactly the qualifying quantity from the eligible range.
  • Student discount (15%) doesn't stack with all offers. Check terms before assuming you can combine it with multi-buy deals.

When to Skip The Works

  • If you want a single specific book: The Works' strength is bundles and browsing. For one title, check your library first, then compare prices elsewhere.
  • If you need reliable online delivery: Until their fulfilment improves, online home delivery is a gamble. Click & Collect is safer.
  • If you're buying premium stationery or art supplies: The Works focuses on value/budget ranges. Specialist retailers may offer better quality at similar prices for serious artists.
