Matalan Me

What Is Matalan Me?

Matalan Me is the free loyalty programme from Matalan, the UK budget fashion and homeware retailer with around 225 stores. It's not a traditional points scheme — the real value comes from member-exclusive discount codes (typically 20-25% off), free Click & Collect, early sale access, and a daily prize draw. Honest baseline: the points system is opaque and low-value, but the discount codes and perks add up to a genuine £40-80 per year if you shop there regularly.

When Is Matalan Me Worth It?

Without effort: Just scan your card and earn points — maybe £10-15/year in vouchers based on typical spending. Not exciting.
With the 3 moves: Use member-exclusive codes on sale items and time your purchases around payday deals — realistically £40-80/year saved.

Recent changes: Matalan announced in October 2025 that it's overhauling the entire loyalty programme, with a new scheme expected sometime in 2026. The current Matalan Me programme is still running, but expect changes. Worth joining now — you lose nothing, and any revamp will likely migrate existing members.

How It Works

Where it works: Matalan stores (around 225 across the UK) and matalan.co.uk — single-retailer programme, no external partners.

What you earn: Points for every pound spent, redeemable as vouchers. Matalan doesn't publish the exact earn rate or conversion value, which tells you everything you need to know about how much the points are actually worth. The real value is elsewhere.

How you get it back: Vouchers for future Matalan purchases. No bank transfer, no gift cards for other shops.

What it costs: Free. Always has been.

How to sign up: Online at the Matalan website — takes under 2 minutes. Digital card available instantly; physical card also available. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration.

Member perks: Free Next Day Click & Collect on all orders (no minimum spend). 28-day extended returns. Birthday voucher. Daily "Win Your Basket" prize draw (up to £500). Weekly member-exclusive deals and discount codes. Spend £150 in 12 months and you're upgraded to the VIP Black Card — quarterly exclusive vouchers and VIP shopping events.

Good to know: Discount codes can't stack — one per order. But codes do work on sale and clearance items, which is where the real savings are. For online orders, you must be logged into your Matalan Me account to earn points.

The 3 Moves That Actually Matter

1. Use Member Codes on Sale Items

Matalan regularly sends member-exclusive codes — the "MEMBER" code typically gives 20% off orders over £40 or 25% off orders over £60. These codes work on top of already-reduced sale and clearance items. A £60 sale item with 25% off becomes £45. Check your emails or the Matalan website before any purchase.

2. Time Purchases Around Payday and Big Sale Events

Matalan runs payday deals at the end of each month (usually 20-25% off with minimum spend), plus seasonal sales with up to 50% off. As a Matalan Me member, you get early access to sales before everyone else. Timing a larger shop around these events can double your effective discount when combined with a member code.

3. Always Use Click & Collect

Matalan Me members get free Next Day Click & Collect on every order — no minimum spend. Non-members pay £0.99-£1.99. Over a year, that's an easy £12-24 saved just by having the card. Keep it in SuperCards so you never forget to log in when ordering online.

Get Your Savings (Best to Worst)

Member-exclusive discount codes — 20-25% off qualifying orders. This is the programme's core value. Use on sale items for maximum impact.

Free Next Day Click & Collect — saves £1.99 per order, adds up quickly for regular online shoppers.

VIP Black Card quarterly vouchers — extra exclusive discounts four times a year once you hit £150 annual spend.

There's a way to stack additional savings on top of your Matalan Me perks for online orders — see Pro Tips below.

Points-to-voucher redemption — the earn rate and conversion value are deliberately unclear. Don't plan around the points; treat any vouchers that appear as a small bonus.

Watch Out For

  • Discount codes don't stack. One code per order. Choose the best available code rather than trying to combine them.
  • The "Win Your Basket" draw is marketing, not a benefit. One winner per day across all customers — your odds are vanishingly small. Don't factor it into your value calculation.
  • Programme may change soon. Matalan announced an overhaul in late 2025. Your membership should carry over, but specific benefits could shift.
  • Online orders require login. If you're not logged into your Matalan Me account when shopping online, you won't earn points or see member pricing. Stay logged in.

When to Skip Matalan Me

  • If you rarely shop at Matalan. There are no external partners — this only rewards Matalan spending. Under £30/month, the return is negligible.
  • If Primark is your go-to. Primark is often cheaper for trendy basics and doesn't require a loyalty card at all.
  • For online shopping value alone. Cashback portals often offer higher returns on Matalan online purchases than the points system delivers.
