What Is myWaitrose?

myWaitrose is Waitrose's free loyalty scheme β€” scan your card at any Waitrose store and you get personalised discount vouchers, a free daily hot drink, and monthly rewards when you hit spending milestones. There are no points to collect. Instead, the value comes from direct discounts, freebies, and 20% off at the cheese, fish, and meat counters on specific days. If you shop at Waitrose regularly, realistic annual savings are Β£100–300 depending on how much you use the perks.

When Is myWaitrose Worth It?

Without effort: Scan your card on a weekly Β£100 shop, never check vouchers β†’ free coffee once a week and occasional automatic discounts. Maybe Β£30–50/year.

With the 3 moves: Use your weekly vouchers, time your shopping around counter discount days, and grab a free coffee whenever you pass a store β†’ realistically Β£150–300/year.

Recent changes: Free hot drink returned without purchase requirement in January 2025. "Little Treats" milestone rewards launched nationwide in November 2025 β€” spend Β£50/Β£100/Β£250 per month and get free products or money-off vouchers. Counter day discounts (20% off cheese/fish/meat) introduced January 2025. Free newspapers permanently discontinued.

How It Works

Where it works: All Waitrose & Partners stores across the UK (~330 supermarkets plus convenience stores). Also works online at waitrose.com and via linked accounts on delivery apps.

What you earn: No points. You receive personalised discount vouchers each week (typically 50p–£2 off specific products), 20% off counter products on set days, and Little Treats rewards at monthly spending milestones.

How you get it back: Discounts apply automatically when you scan your card in-store or select vouchers online. Little Treats vouchers appear in your account once you hit a threshold.

What it costs: Free. Always has been.

How to sign up: On the Waitrose website in about 2 minutes. Digital card available immediately; physical card by post. Scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration so it's always one tap away.

Member perks: Free hot drink daily from self-serve machines (bring a reusable cup, no purchase needed). Free Waitrose Food magazine monthly (usually Β£3.50). 10% off Waitrose Cookery School. 5% off dry cleaning at selected stores.

Good to know: Personalised vouchers are based on your shopping history β€” you need to scan your card regularly to get relevant offers. New vouchers appear every Wednesday and last one week. Little Treats vouchers expire after 14 days. You must have shopped at least once in the previous 13 weeks to qualify for Little Treats.

The 3 Moves That Actually Matter

1. Check Your Vouchers Every Wednesday

Open your account on the Waitrose website each Wednesday, select all the vouchers that match things you actually buy, and use them on your next shop. You get about four per week and can now use all of them (previously limited to two). Typical savings: Β£2–8 per week on products you were buying anyway. If you shop on Wednesdays, you can sometimes catch the tail end of the previous week's offers alongside the new ones.

2. Plan Your Shop Around Counter Discount Days

20% off selected cheese on Thursdays, fish on Fridays, and meat on Saturdays. These are real discounts on premium Waitrose counter products. A Β£15 piece of fish becomes Β£12; a Β£20 joint of beef becomes Β£16. If you're flexible on which day you shop, match it to whatever you're buying most of that week.

3. Grab the Free Hot Drink

One free hot drink per day from the self-serve machines β€” americano, latte, cappuccino, or tea. Bring a reusable cup. No purchase required. If you pass a Waitrose regularly, this adds up to Β£100+ per year on its own. Keep your myWaitrose card in SuperCards so you always have it ready to scan at the machine.

Get Your Savings (Best to Worst)

Free hot drink β€” Worth Β£2–3 per day. Best single perk in any UK supermarket loyalty scheme, and it requires nothing but a reusable cup.

Counter day discounts β€” 20% off is substantial on Waitrose premium products. No voucher activation needed, just scan your card.

Personalised vouchers β€” Savings vary (50p–£2 per item), but they're tailored to what you buy. Require weekly selection.

Little Treats β€” Free products or money-off vouchers at Β£50/Β£100/Β£250 monthly spend milestones. Nice bonus if you're already hitting the thresholds.

There's a way to effectively get 3–6% off every Waitrose shop before you even walk through the door β€” see Pro Tips below.

Ignoring your vouchers β€” If you never check the website, you're leaving the main value on the table. The free drink alone doesn't justify the scheme for everyone.

Watch Out For

  • Vouchers expire weekly. New ones every Wednesday, gone by the following Tuesday. If you can't shop that week, they're lost.
  • Little Treats expire after 14 days. Select them promptly once they appear in your account.
  • The most common mistake: forgetting to scan. Missed scans mean missed spend tracking for Little Treats and missing out on voucher eligibility. Store your card in SuperCards so it's always one tap away.
  • Not all vouchers feel useful. Personalised offers are algorithm-driven and sometimes suggest products you wouldn't buy. Ignore those and just use the ones that genuinely match.

When to Skip myWaitrose

  • You rarely shop at Waitrose. Unlike points-based schemes, the savings here are entirely tied to shopping at Waitrose stores. No partners, no coalition network.
  • You're purely price-driven. Waitrose's base prices are higher than Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi, or Lidl. myWaitrose discounts bring some items closer to competitor prices, but they don't make Waitrose the cheapest option overall.
  • You only shop online. The free drink (the most valuable single perk) is in-store only. Online shoppers still get vouchers and Little Treats, but miss the headline benefit.
