What Is the Boots Advantage Card?

The Boots Advantage Card is the UK's biggest health and beauty loyalty scheme β€” scan your free card at any of 2,200+ Boots stores or shop online at boots.com and earn 3 points per Β£1 spent. Each point is worth 1p, giving you a straightforward 3% return. On top of that, cardholders get app-only personalised offers and access to exclusive Price Advantage pricing on over 1,000 items each month. Realistically, a regular Boots shopper can expect Β£30–80 back per year depending on how much effort they put in.

When Is the Boots Advantage Card Worth It?

Without effort: Spend Β£100/month at Boots, just scan your card β†’ 3,600 points/year β†’ Β£36/year plus savings from Price Advantage and personalised offers.
With the 3 moves: Activate personalised offers, time purchases around points events, spend points on reduced items β†’ realistically Β£60–100/year.

Recent changes: Boots is phasing out the long-standing 10% off own-brand member discount from May 2026, replacing it with lowered shelf prices on hundreds of own-brand products for all customers, plus app-only personalised offers for cardholders. Boots also extended Advantage Card points to Deliveroo and Uber Eats orders in early 2025 (1 point per Β£1 β€” lower rate than in-store). A Which? investigation in January 2026 flagged that some Boots loyalty pricing wasn't always the bargain it appeared to be β€” worth double-checking "exclusive" prices against other retailers.

How It Works

Where it works: Boots stores UK-wide, boots.com, and Boots products on Deliveroo/Uber Eats (~240 stores).

What you earn: 3 points per Β£1 spent (= 3% back). Birthday month: double points (6 per Β£1). Parenting Club: 8 per Β£1 on baby products. Over 60s Rewards: 8 per Β£1 on Boots own-brand.

How you get it back: Spend points at the till or online β€” 1 point = 1p. Part-payment works in-store; online you must cover the full item cost with points.

What it costs: Free. Always has been.

How to sign up: On the Boots website β€” takes 2 minutes. Digital card works immediately, and physical cards are available in-store or by post. Scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration so it's always one tap away.

Member perks: App-only personalised offers (the main vehicle for own-brand discounts from May 2026 onwards). Price Advantage exclusive pricing on 1,000+ products monthly. Students get 10% off almost everything with a linked student ID.

Good to know: Online, you earn points automatically when logged in with a linked card. Points take a few days to appear for in-store purchases, and a few weeks for online orders (held during the returns window). If you forget to scan, ask the cashier to validate your receipt β€” you can get points added at any store within a few weeks.

The 3 Moves That Actually Matter

1. Activate Every Personalised Offer Before You Shop

Open the Boots website, go to your offers, and activate everything relevant. These include "Spend Β£20, get 500 points" or "Buy 2, get 200 bonus points" deals tailored to your shopping habits. They cost nothing to activate, and if you happen to buy something that matches, the bonus points are added automatically. This alone can push your effective return from 3% to 5–10% on qualifying purchases.

2. Bunch Purchases Around Points Events

Boots runs bonus points events several times a year β€” typically "Spend Β£50, get 1,000 bonus points" (that's Β£10 free). When one is live, do your Boots shopping in one go to hit the threshold. If you're spending more, split into multiple Β£50 transactions β€” there's usually no limit on how many bonuses you can trigger. A single event can be worth Β£10–30 if you time it right.

3. Spend Points on Reduced Items, Not Full Price

Your points are always worth 1p each β€” but what you buy with them makes a huge difference. Wait for Star Gifts (50%+ off premium products), Β£10 Tuesday deals, or seasonal sales. A Β£10 point spend on a half-price item effectively buys Β£20 worth of product. Keep your card in SuperCards so you're always ready when a good deal appears.

Get Your Points Out (Best to Worst)

Spend in-store on reduced items β€” 1 point = 1p, and part-payment is fine. Using points during sales stretches their value furthest.

Spend online at boots.com β€” same 1p per point rate, but you must have enough points to cover the full item. No part-payment online.

There are ways to push your effective return well above 3% β€” see Pro Tips below.

Letting points sit unused β€” with only a 12-month inactivity window, forgetting about your points means losing them. There's no cash-out or bank transfer option.

Watch Out For

  • Points expire after 12 months of inactivity. One transaction resets the clock, but if you go a year without scanning your card, everything is wiped. Keep your card in SuperCards and scan it every time β€” even on a small purchase.
  • No part-payment online. You need enough points to cover the entire item cost. In-store, you can combine points with cash or card.
  • Price Advantage isn't always the best price. A Which? investigation found some "exclusive" loyalty prices were inflated compared to the regular shelf price elsewhere. Compare before assuming you're getting a deal.
  • The 10% own-brand member discount is going away from May 2026. Boots is replacing it with lowered shelf prices for everyone plus targeted app-only offers β€” net effect on your bill depends on what you buy.

When to Skip the Boots Advantage Card

  • You rarely shop at Boots. Under Β£30/month means less than Β£11/year in points. If you only visit a few times a year, the 12-month expiry makes it risky β€” Superdrug's card has a 2-year window and is more forgiving for infrequent shoppers.
  • You mainly buy online and can use cashback portals. Some cashback portals offer competitive rates on Boots.com purchases. If you're already using one, the Advantage Card adds on top β€” but if you're choosing between the two, portals can sometimes beat the 3% base rate.
  • You almost never engage with the app. From May 2026 onwards, most own-brand member savings come through app-only personalised offers. If you won't open the app, you're leaving the biggest member benefit on the table.
