What Is Journie Rewards?

Journie Rewards is Parkland's free fuel and convenience loyalty program — scan your card or enter your phone number at Ultramar, Pioneer, Fas Gas, Chevron, and On the Run locations across Canada to earn points on every fill-up and in-store purchase. Points unlock fuel discounts, free snacks, and Aeroplan points through a 300-point cycle. The base savings are modest (roughly 2% back on fuel), but linking a CIBC card and timing your fill-ups right can realistically push that to 4-5%.

Is Journie Rewards Worth It?

Without effort: Fill up 100L/month at a participating station, just scan your card → ~$28-40/year in fuel discounts and freebies
With the 3 moves: Link CIBC, time your fill-ups, activate app deals → realistically $75-100/year

Recent changes: Sunoco LP acquired Parkland in October 2025 — the program continues operating but the long-term outlook is uncertain. Ultramar stations with Circle K convenience stores no longer participate (since Feb 2023), which affects a significant number of Quebec locations. EV charging now earns Journie points at select On the Run stations.

How Does Journie Rewards Work?

Where it works: ~1,200 participating Pioneer, Fas Gas, Ultramar, Chevron, and On the Run locations. Also M&M Food Market (linked accounts).

What you earn: 1 point per litre of fuel (max 150L per transaction). 2 points per $1 spent in the convenience store. 1 point per $1 at M&M Food Market.

How you get it back: At 300 points, choose: 7¢/L fuel discount (up to 100L), 300 Aeroplan points, or $5 off in-store. You also pick smaller rewards at 75 and 150 points along the way — free snacks, a 3¢/L discount, or a $5 M&M Food Market voucher.

What it costs: Free. Always has been.

How to sign up: Register at the Journie website (journie.ca) in 2 minutes. You can scan your digital card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration. You get 150 bonus points immediately, plus 75 more for opting into emails. Your phone number is your account ID.

Member perks: 100 bonus points on your birthday. Your 7th fountain drink or coffee is free at participating On the Run locations.

Good to know: Not all branded stations participate — always check the station locator in the Journie website before counting on earning points. You cannot earn points on tobacco, alcohol (in some provinces), or gift cards. Promotional fuel discounts must be activated in your account before you fill up — just having them appear is not enough.

How to Get the Most From Journie Rewards

1. Always activate deals before filling up

Open the Journie website before every fill-up and check for active fuel promotions. Journie runs periodic "Pump Up the Savings" events offering 5-10¢/L off for a day or two. These must be activated — if you don't, the discount won't apply even if it shows in your account. Takes 10 seconds and can save $5-10 per fill-up when events run. Keep your rewards card in SuperCards so you never forget to scan.

2. Fill up near empty when you have a banked discount

When you hit 300 points and earn the 7¢/L discount, don't waste it on a half-tank top-up. Wait until your tank is close to empty, then fill at a participating station. The discount applies to up to 100L, so a 40L fill saves $2.80 while a 100L fill saves $7.00 — same points, 2.5x the value. You have 60 days to use a banked discount, so there's no rush.

3. Grab the $5 M&M Food Market voucher at 150 points

Most members ignore the 150-point milestone or grab a free snack. If you shop at M&M Food Market, the $5 voucher is the best value per point in the entire program — 3.3¢ per point versus 2.3¢ for the 300-point fuel discount. That's 40% more value for the same effort. If you don't shop at M&M, take the 3¢/L fuel discount or 30 Aeroplan points instead.

How to Redeem Journie Rewards Points

7¢/L fuel discount at 300 points — best value if you fill close to 100L. Up to $7.00 per cycle.

$5 M&M Food Market voucher at 150 points — highest value per point if you shop there.

300 Aeroplan points at 300 points — worth ~$6 at standard Aeroplan valuations, potentially much more for premium flight redemptions.

There's a way to stack multiple discounts on a single fill-up for up to 20¢/L off — see Pro Tips below.

Carbon credit at 150 points — zero tangible return. Choose any other option.

Journie Rewards — What to Watch Out For

  • Points expire after 12 months of inactivity. Any earning or redeeming activity resets the clock, but if you go a full year without using Journie, your balance drops to zero.
  • Earned rewards expire in 60 days. When you hit a milestone, you must claim and use the reward within 60 days or it's gone.
  • Not all Ultramar stations participate. Locations with Circle K convenience stores (Couche-Tard-owned) left the program in February 2023. Check the station locator before you drive there.
  • Fuel discounts cap at 100L. If you're filling a commercial tank over 100L, the discount stops at 100.

When to Skip Journie Rewards

  • No participating stations nearby. Coverage varies significantly by region. If the nearest Pioneer/Ultramar/Fas Gas/Chevron is out of your way, don't drive to it just for 7¢/L — the extra fuel cost cancels the savings.
  • You already have a strong grocery-fuel combo. If you use PC Optimum at Esso/Mobil and do your groceries at Loblaws/No Frills, that combined ecosystem may offer more total value than Journie alone.
  • You drive very little. Under 50L/month, you'll take over 6 months to complete a single 300-point cycle. Your annual return would be under $15 — not worth the mental overhead.
