What Is Triangle Rewards?

Triangle Rewards is Canadian Tire Corporation's free loyalty program — scan your card at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark's, and a dozen other banners to earn Canadian Tire Money (CT Money) on everyday purchases. You redeem CT Money at any of those stores at a straight $1 = $1 value. The base earn rate is a modest 0.4%, but personalized bonus multipliers and well-timed purchases can push that to 2-8% on individual transactions.

Is Triangle Rewards Worth It?

Without effort: Spend $200/month at Canadian Tire or Sport Chek, scan your card each time → roughly $10/year back in CT Money.
With the 3 moves: Activate weekly offers, shop during Bonus Days, and use Offer Swap → realistically $40-70/year.

Recent changes: RBC launched a linked-card partnership in January 2026 — any RBC debit or credit card now earns 3x CT Money (1.2%) at CTC stores when linked. The WestJet partnership went live on March 25, 2026: linked members earn 1 WestJet point per $2 spent at CTC stores plus 0.4% CT Money on WestJet bookings (1.0% with the Triangle Mastercard). Petro-Canada joined the ecosystem in 2024, so you can now earn CT Money at the pump too.

How Does Triangle Rewards Work?

Where it works: Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark's, L'Equipeur, Party City, Atmosphere, Pro Hockey Life, PartSource, Gas+, Petro-Canada (linked), plus all their websites.

What you earn: 0.4% back in CT Money on the pre-tax purchase amount. Gas+ pays 3 cents/litre with cash or debit.

How you get it back: Spend CT Money at the register or at checkout online — $1 CT Money = $1 off. No minimums.

What it costs: Free. Always has been. (Triangle Select, a paid tier at $89/year, exists for heavy spenders — see Pro Tips.)

How to sign up: Register at the Triangle website — takes 2 minutes. Card works digitally right away; physical card and key fob available too. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot after registration.

Member perks: Personalized weekly bonus offers (5x-20x multipliers on specific products). A 20x birthday bonus. Offer Swap lets you trade unwanted offers for ones other members don't need.

Good to know: Online orders require you to be logged into your Triangle Rewards account at checkout. Bonus CT Money from online purchases takes up to 5 weeks to post. Forgot to scan in-store? You can submit a retroactive collection request within 15 days at Canadian Tire or Party City — but only if you haven't swapped any offers since the purchase.

How to Get the Most From Triangle Rewards

1. Activate All Weekly Offers — Every Week, No Thinking Required

Open the Triangle website, go to your offers, and activate everything for stores where you even occasionally shop. If a purchase matches an active offer, the 5x-20x bonus CT Money lands automatically. If nothing matches, the offer expires with zero downside. This single habit turns 0.4% into 2-8% on matched purchases. Takes 30 seconds a week.

2. Use Offer Swap to Get Better Deals

If your weekly offers don't match your shopping plans, swap them. The Triangle website lets you trade an unwanted offer for a "Community Offer" from another member. This gives you access to a much larger pool of multipliers than what you'd get on your own. Check before any planned purchase — someone else's 20x offer on the item you need might be sitting there.

3. Time Big Purchases for Bonus Days

Triangle Bonus Days run every few weeks, offering 20x-50x multipliers when you hit a spending threshold (e.g., 20x on $150+). If you need tires, tools, winter gear, or sports equipment, wait for a Bonus Day. At 20x, a $200 purchase earns $16 in CT Money instead of $0.80. These stack with your weekly offers. Keep your card in SuperCards so you never miss scanning on the day that counts.

How to Redeem Triangle Rewards Points

Pay at the register — $1 CT Money = $1 off at any CTC store. Simple, instant, full value.

Apply at online checkout — Same $1 = $1 rate at canadiantire.ca, sportchek.ca, and marks.com.

There are periodic redemption bonus events where you get 20% back when spending CT Money — see Pro Tips for the timing strategy.

Impulse spending — CT Money has only one redemption option, so there's no "bad" rate. But spending it on things you wouldn't normally buy is the real value trap.

Triangle Rewards — What to Watch Out For

  • CT Money expires after 18 months of inactivity. Any earn or redeem transaction resets the clock — one small purchase keeps everything alive.
  • The most common mistake: forgetting to scan. Most stores can't add points after the fact. Keep your Triangle card on your phone so it's always one tap away at checkout.
  • Online bonus CT Money takes up to 5 weeks to appear. It's held during the return window. Don't panic if your balance doesn't update right away.
  • Retroactive collection has strict conditions. You must not have activated or swapped weekly offers since the original purchase, and it only works at Canadian Tire and Party City.

When to Skip Triangle Rewards

  • You rarely shop at CTC stores. At 0.4% base, spending $50/month earns $2.40/year. Not worth the mental overhead.
  • Your main spending is groceries. Programs tied to grocery chains offer better returns on food spending. Triangle Rewards is built for hardware, sports, and auto.
  • You want simple, high-rate cashback everywhere. A general 2% cashback credit card outperforms Triangle's base rate at every non-CTC retailer.
