What Is rebel Active?

rebel Active is the free rewards program and loyalty card at rebel, Australia's largest sporting goods retailer with over 160 stores. This rewards card lets you earn points on every purchase — 1 point per $1 spent in-store or online — and every 100 points gives you $5 off your next purchase, a flat 5% back. You also get access to member-only pricing on selected products, which often delivers more savings than the points themselves.

Is rebel Active Worth It?

Without effort: Spend $150/month at rebel, earn 1,800 points/year = $90 back (assuming you redeem before the 6-month expiry)

With the 3 moves: Activate bonus offers, combine with member pricing and time your purchases around sales = realistically $120–180/year on the same spend

Recent changes: rebel Active launched in October 2023, replacing the old member-pricing-only system with a full points program. The 5% earn rate is generous by Australian retail standards. No major changes since launch.

How Does rebel Active Work?

Where it works: rebel stores (160+ across Australia) and rebelsport.com.au. rebel only — the program does not work at Supercheap Auto, BCF, or Macpac, despite them being sister brands under Super Retail Group.

What you earn: 1 point per $1 spent on eligible products. Gift cards, services, and donations are excluded.

How you get it back: You can redeem points in-store or online at rebel. 1 point = $0.05, no minimum redemption. Use any number of points on any purchase.

What it costs: Free. No paid tier.

How to sign up: Register at the rebel website or in-store — takes 2 minutes. No physical card issued; add your digital membership to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Alternatively, just give your phone number or email at checkout. You can scan your membership details into SuperCards via screenshot after registration.

Member perks: Member-exclusive pricing on selected products (discounts vary, often $5–$40 off). Early access to product launches and sales. Periodic bonus credit offers ($5–$20) that appear in your account.

Good to know: Points take up to 72 hours to appear for in-store purchases, or 72 hours after your online order ships. If you forget to provide your membership details at checkout, points cannot be added retroactively — that's final. Keep your card in SuperCards so you never miss a scan.

How to Get the Most From rebel Active

1. Activate Every Bonus Offer Before You Shop

Log into your rebel Active account on the website before each purchase and activate all available bonus offers. These include 2x or 3x points multipliers and "spend $100, get $20 credit" promotions. You must activate before you shop — they don't apply retroactively. With a 2x multiplier, your 5% return doubles to 10% on that purchase. New offers rotate regularly, so check every time.

2. Stack Member Pricing with Points

rebel Active gives you two benefits simultaneously: member-exclusive lower prices on selected products AND points on the (already reduced) purchase price. Check the member offers section on the website before buying — if the item you want has a member price, you're getting a discount plus 5% back. This is where the real value sits for regular shoppers.

3. Redeem Points Before They Expire

Points expire 6 months from the date they're earned — and new purchases do not reset the clock on existing points. Set a reminder or watch for the email/SMS alert rebel sends before expiry. Redeem in-store by telling staff, or online by selecting "apply rewards" at checkout. There's no minimum, so even 20 points ($1) is worth using rather than letting them vanish.

How to Redeem rebel Active Points

Redeem at rebel (in-store or online) — 1 point = $0.05, any balance, no minimum. Clean and simple.

Bonus credit from promotions — periodic $5–$20 credit offers appear in your account. Activate them, spend the minimum, get the credit. Effectively free money.

There are ways to earn significantly more than 5% on rebel purchases — see Pro Tips below.

Letting points expire — with only a 6-month window and no activity-based reset, this is the most common way to lose value. Don't sit on points.

rebel Active — What to Watch Out For

Key pros and cons to know:

  • 6-month point expiry is strict. Each batch of points has its own countdown. No reset from new purchases. If you shop at rebel only once or twice a year, your points will likely expire before you use them.
  • No retroactive points. Forget to scan or provide your details? Those points are gone. rebel will not credit them after the fact.
  • Bonus offers must be activated first. They don't apply automatically. If you skip the activation step, you miss the multiplier or credit — even if you were eligible.
  • Online orders take longer. Points only appear 72 hours after your full order ships, not when you place it. Returns will reverse the points.

When to Skip rebel Active

  • You buy sports gear once a year. With a 6-month point expiry, your points will likely expire before your next purchase. The member pricing still helps, but points won't.
  • You mainly shop online and want maximum cashback. Cashback portals periodically offer 10–20% at rebel during promotions, well above the 5% base from rebel Active. For online-only shoppers, a cashback portal may deliver more value (though you can stack both).
  • Decathlon covers your needs. If you buy mainly own-brand budget gear, Decathlon's pricing often beats rebel's even after member discounts — and they don't require a loyalty program to get their best prices.
