What Is New World Clubcard?
New World Clubcard is the free loyalty programme for New World supermarkets across New Zealand — scan your card at any of the ~140 stores nationwide and earn New World Dollars on every shop. You can spend those dollars like cash at New World, or convert them to Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars. The base return is modest (0.75% back), but Club Deal member pricing and bonus offers make it worthwhile if you're already shopping there.
Heads-up: Clubcard is being replaced by Club+, a new cross-brand programme covering New World, PAK'nSAVE, and Four Square. Club+ launches 15 June 2026, and Clubcard will no longer be accepted from 27 July 2026. Existing New World Dollar balances are held for up to 24 months and migrate to Club+ Dollars when you re-register with the same email. The information below covers Clubcard as it stands until the switchover.
When Is New World Clubcard Worth It?
Without effort: $200/month at New World, just scanning your card → $18/year in New World Dollars
With the 3 moves: Activate My Offers bonuses and use Club Deals consistently → realistically $40-70/year in combined savings
Recent changes: The big one: Clubcard is being replaced by Club+ on 15 June 2026, with Clubcard accepted for the last time on 27 July 2026. Club+ is a cross-brand programme — earn at New World (0.75%) and Four Square (0.38%), spend at all three Foodstuffs banners including PAK'nSAVE. Online shopping at newworld.co.nz will be limited to Club+ members from 15 June. Existing New World Dollars carry over for 24 months once you re-register. Before that, in March 2025 New World introduced "New World Dollars" as a new currency, replacing the old points system. Airpoints earning now runs through your Clubcard, with every 5 New World Dollars auto-converting to 5 Airpoints Dollars. The minimum spend threshold was removed, so every shop counts. Since November 2025, Clubcard members also get 8c/litre off fuel at Z and Caltex.
How It Works
Where it works: ~140 New World stores across New Zealand. New World Dollars can currently be spent at Liquorland too, though Liquorland isn't named on the Club+ redemption list — that link may not survive the 15 June transition. Fuel discount at Z and Caltex stations.
What you earn: 0.75% back on qualifying spend — $0.75 in New World Dollars for every $100 spent.
How you get it back: Spend New World Dollars as payment at New World (1 NWD = $1 NZD), and currently at Liquorland too. Or auto-convert to Airpoints Dollars (every 5 NWD → 5 Airpoints Dollars).
What it costs: Free. No membership fee.
How to sign up: Join online at clubcard.co.nz in 2 minutes. Digital card available instantly; physical card posted on request. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot once you've signed up.
Member perks: Club Deals are member-exclusive prices on selected products — scan your Clubcard at checkout to get the lower price. Automatic entry into Clubcard competitions. 8c/litre fuel discount at Z and Caltex (current promotion until June 2026).
Good to know: Gift cards, tobacco, Lotteries tickets, and fuel purchases don't earn New World Dollars. Your NWD balance updates in near real time in your Clubcard account. Online shopping earns at the same rate — just link your Clubcard to your New World online account. Note that from 15 June 2026, online shopping at newworld.co.nz will be restricted to Club+ members only.
The 3 Moves That Actually Matter
1. Activate My Offers before you shop
Open the New World website, go to My Offers, and activate any offers relevant to your shopping. These are personalised bonuses — for example, "Spend $100 over 2 weeks, earn $10 bonus NWD." You need to activate each offer once, then just shop normally. Bonus dollars are added automatically when you meet the criteria. This can push your effective return from 0.75% to 5-10% on qualifying shops.
2. Always scan for Club Deals — they're the real value
The 0.75% cashback is marginal. The bigger value is Club Deal pricing on selected products, available only when you scan your Clubcard. Check the weekly Club Deals on the New World website before shopping, and plan purchases around them. Without scanning, you pay the higher non-member price on these items.
3. Use the fuel discount every time you fill up
Scan your Clubcard at any Z or Caltex station for 8c/litre off fuel, up to 100 litres. On a 50-litre fill, that's $4 saved. Do this every fortnight and you're looking at $100+ per year — far more than the NWD cashback alone. Keep your card in SuperCards so it's always one tap away at the pump.
Get Your Points Out (Best to Worst)
Spend at New World — 1 NWD = $1 NZD, applied as full or partial payment. Simple and immediate. Currently also redeemable at Liquorland, though that may end at the Club+ switchover on 15 June 2026.
Convert to Airpoints Dollars — same 1:1 value, but Airpoints can be worth more if redeemed for premium flights. Every 5 NWD auto-converts when you've selected Airpoints as your reward.
There's a way to earn Airpoints on top of your Clubcard rewards, not instead of them — see Pro Tips below.
Watch Out For
- New World Dollars expire after 2 years of inactivity. Any new earning resets the clock, so one shop every couple of years keeps them alive. You'll get an email warning before expiry.
- The most common mistake: forgetting to scan. No scan means no Club Deal discount and no NWD earned. Retroactive credit isn't available at most stores.
- Keep a card backup. New World's digital channels have had reliability issues in-store. Carry the physical card or keep it in SuperCards so you can always scan.
- Fuel discount doesn't stack with Z Rewards or Caltex Pumped promotions — it's one or the other.
When to Skip New World Clubcard
- If PAK'nSAVE is nearby: Consumer NZ found PAK'nSAVE is consistently $10-15/week cheaper on a standard shop. That's $500-750/year in savings — no loyalty card needed. The Clubcard's 0.75% can't come close.
- If you spend under $100/month at New World: Your annual NWD return would be under $9. Not worth thinking about.
- If you only want Airpoints: An Airpoints credit card earns Airpoints on all spending, not just groceries. The Clubcard is a nice bonus on top, but shouldn't be the reason to choose New World over a cheaper supermarket.
