What Is Club+?
Club+ is the free loyalty programme covering New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square — Foodstuffs' three supermarket banners, ~400 stores across New Zealand. It's the rewards card and rewards programme that replaces New World Clubcard from 15 June 2026. Scan your card at New World or Four Square to earn Club+ Dollars (1 dollar = $1), and spend them like cash at any of the three banners, including PAK'nSAVE. Plus an 8c/litre fuel discount at Z and Caltex. Realistic value range: $20–80/year, depending on where you shop.
Heads-up: Club+ goes live in-store on 15 June 2026 and replaces New World Clubcard. Sign-ups have been open since 18 May. If you had a Clubcard, register for Club+ with the same email before 27 July 2026 and your remaining New World Dollar balance plus shopping history carry over automatically. After 27 July, Clubcard stops earning and stops unlocking Club Deals.
When Is Club+ Worth It?
Without effort: $200/month at New World, just scanning your card → ~$18/year in Club+ Dollars, plus ~$40/year in fuel discounts on regular fill-ups → ~$60/year
With the 3 moves: Earn at New World, redeem at PAK'nSAVE, stack Airpoints on credit card → realistically $80–150/year combined
The structural quirk: PAK'nSAVE earns nothing. Zero Club+ Dollars on PAK'nSAVE shopping. You can still spend Club+ Dollars there — but if PAK'nSAVE is your main supermarket, the value of joining Club+ is essentially just the fuel discount plus any dollars earned occasionally at New World or a Four Square.
How Does Club+ Work?
Where it works: ~150 New World stores, ~60 PAK'nSAVE stores, 225+ Four Square stores — nationwide. Plus 8c/litre fuel at Z, Caltex, New World fuel and PAK'nSAVE fuel sites.
What you earn:
- New World: 0.75% back in Club+ Dollars
- Four Square: 0.38% back
- PAK'nSAVE: nothing — earning is excluded by design (their pitch is that PAK'nSAVE prices are already as low as Foodstuffs can take them)
How you get it back: 1 Club+ Dollar = $1 NZD at the register at any of the three banners. Or convert to Airpoints — every 5 Club+ Dollars auto-converts to 5 Airpoints Dollars (1:1) if you've opted in.
What it costs: Free. No paid tier.
How to sign up: Free at clubplus.co.nz — 2 minutes. Sign up before 27 July if you had a Clubcard so your balance migrates cleanly (use the same email as your Clubcard account). The digital card is available instantly; physical card on request. Add your digital loyalty card to SuperCards — keep all your rewards cards in one app and scan straight from your phone at the register.
Member perks: Club+ Deals — member-exclusive prices at New World, with the purple Club+ logo on the shelf tag. Club+ Picks — weekly personalised on-special recommendations based on what you usually buy. No tiers, no birthday reward.
Good to know: Earning excludes fuel, tobacco, gift cards, NZ Lotteries, online delivery fees and a handful of other categories — the usual loyalty carve-outs. From 15 June, online shopping at newworld.co.nz, paknsaveonline.co.nz and Four Square NOW requires a Club+ account. The fuel discount needs a single $1+ qualifying grocery shop at any of the three banners to unlock the next fill.
How to Get the Most From Club+
1. Earn at New World, redeem at PAK'nSAVE
This is the structural play. Do your top-up shops at New World (0.75% in Club+ Dollars), then do your big shops at PAK'nSAVE and spend your accumulated Club+ Dollars there. You get the earn rate from New World on top of PAK'nSAVE's lower base prices. Even if PAK'nSAVE is the better-value shop overall, the Club+ Dollars you earn at New World become a small extra discount stacked on top.
2. Always scan — Club+ Deals are where the real value is
The 0.75% earn rate at New World is modest. The bigger win is Club+ Deals — member-only prices on selected products, available only when you scan. Without scanning, you pay full shelf price. Check the weekly Club+ Deals on the New World website before shopping and plan around them. Keep your Club+ card in SuperCards so you can scan it from your phone at the register without rummaging.
3. Use the fuel discount every fill
Scan your Club+ card at Z, Caltex, New World or PAK'nSAVE fuel for 8c/litre off, after any $1+ shop at one of the three supermarkets in the prior period. On a 50-litre fill that's $4 saved. Fortnightly fills add up to $100+/year — more than the Club+ Dollars themselves at most spending levels. The fuel discount doesn't stack with Z Rewards or Caltex Pumped promotions, so use whichever is better that day.
How to Redeem Club+ Dollars
Spend at PAK'nSAVE — 1 Club+ Dollar = $1 off your bill. Combined with PAK'nSAVE's lower base prices, this gives you the best end-cost on the shop.
Spend at New World — same 1:1 rate. Convenient if New World is your main supermarket anyway.
Convert to Airpoints Dollars — 5 Club+ Dollars auto-convert to 5 Airpoints Dollars if you've opted in via your Airpoints (Koru) account. Same face value, but Airpoints can sometimes stretch further on premium-cabin redemptions.
There's a way to earn Club+ Dollars and Airpoints on the same shop — see Pro Tips below.
Club+ — What to Watch Out For
- 5 Club+ Dollar minimum redemption. Sub-$5 balances are visible in your account but not spendable in-store or convertible to Airpoints. At the 0.75% New World earn rate, that means $667 of New World shopping before your first Club+ Dollar is usable. Worth knowing before you assume small balances will work at the till.
- PAK'nSAVE earns nothing. If your main shop is PAK'nSAVE, the cashback value of Club+ is effectively zero. The fuel discount and PAK'nSAVE-as-spend-location are still useful, but don't expect Club+ Dollars to pile up.
- The most common mistake: forgetting to scan. No scan, no earn, no Club+ Deal price. Retro-add for forgotten scans isn't supported. Keep your card in SuperCards.
- Clubcard cutover deadline. If you had a Clubcard balance, sign up for Club+ with the same email before 27 July 2026. Untransferred balances are held for 24 months after your last Clubcard transaction and then expire.
When to Skip Club+
- If you shop PAK'nSAVE exclusively and don't drive much: Without the earn rate and with limited fuel benefit, the programme adds little for you. Sign up if you want online shopping (which now requires Club+) — otherwise don't bother.
- If you spend under $100/month at New World or Four Square: Annual Club+ Dollars would be under $9. Not worth the headspace.
- If Countdown is closer and cheaper for your basket: Everyday Rewards at Countdown/Woolworths gives a similar ~0.5% return and lets you earn points at the supermarket you actually shop at — better than Club+ if New World/PAK'nSAVE/Four Square aren't your local.
