What Is Everyday Rewards?

Everyday Rewards is Woolworths New Zealand's loyalty programme — scan your free card at Woolworths, FreshChoice, bp, and a handful of other partners to earn points on your regular shopping. Every 2,000 points gets you a $15 voucher (0.75% back), or you can convert to Air New Zealand Airpoints. The base return is modest, but Boosts and fuel discounts add up if you use them.

When Is Everyday Rewards Worth It?

Without effort: $300/month at Woolworths and bp, just scanning your card → ~1,800 points/year → $13.50
With the 3 moves: Activating Boosts weekly and timing bigger shops → realistically $40–70/year

Recent changes: FreshChoice joined the programme in October 2025, adding 74 stores. Air New Zealand Airpoints and Qantas Frequent Flyer became conversion partners in December 2024 — you can now turn grocery points into flights. The last Countdown store rebranded to Woolworths in December 2025.

How It Works

Where it works: Woolworths (186 stores), FreshChoice (74 stores), bp and g.a.s. fuel stations, Petstock, MILKRUN delivery, Vineonline (wine online).

What you earn: 1 point per $1 spent at most partners. At bp and g.a.s., it's 1 point per litre of fuel plus 1 point per $1 in the shop.

How you get it back: $15 voucher for every 2,000 points — usable at Woolworths, FreshChoice, bp, g.a.s., or Petstock. Or convert to 15 Airpoints Dollars or 1,500 Qantas Points.

What it costs: Free. No premium tier in New Zealand.

How to sign up: Register at the Everyday Rewards website in under two minutes. Digital card works immediately; physical card arrives in 7–10 days. You can scan your card into SuperCards via screenshot straight after signing up.

Member perks: 1,000+ member-only prices on products at Woolworths, rotating weekly. At bp, every 6th Wildbean Cafe coffee and every 6th Ultra Clean car wash is free.

Good to know: Boosts (personalised bonus point offers) must be activated in the website before you shop — they don't apply retroactively. Points usually appear within 24–48 hours in-store. Gift cards, tobacco, lottery, and pharmacy prescriptions don't earn points.

The 3 Moves That Actually Matter

1. Boost Everything, Every Week

Open the Everyday Rewards website, hit "Boost all," and forget about it. If your shopping happens to match an active Boost, the bonus points apply automatically at checkout. If not, nothing happens — no downside. Members who use Boosts earn roughly 5x more than those who just scan. This is the single biggest lever in the programme and takes 10 seconds a week.

2. Scan at bp for the Double Benefit

Most people think of Everyday Rewards as a supermarket programme, but bp gives you an instant 6c/litre fuel discount and 1 point per litre — both at the same time. On a 50-litre fill, that's $3 off plus 50 points. Over a year of weekly fills, you're looking at $150+ in fuel discounts alone, plus bonus points toward your next $15 voucher. Keep your card in SuperCards so you never forget to scan at the pump.

3. Take the Voucher, Skip Qantas Points

When you hit 2,000 points, the $15 voucher is almost always the best deal. Converting to 1,500 Qantas Points gives you roughly $10–12 of value — that's a 20–30% haircut for no good reason. Airpoints Dollars are worth considering if you fly Air NZ (15 Airpoints = $15 face value, with potential for more on partner airline bookings), but the voucher is the safe default.

Get Your Points Out (Best to Worst)

$15 Woolworths/bp voucher — guaranteed 0.75c per point, spend on groceries or fuel you'd buy anyway.

15 Airpoints Dollars — same face value as the voucher, but more flexible if you fly Air New Zealand. Can be worth significantly more on Star Alliance partner bookings.

There's a way to get well above face value from your Airpoints — see Pro Tips below.

1,500 Qantas Points — worth roughly $10–12 in typical redemptions. Worse than both other options unless you have a very specific Qantas booking in mind.

Watch Out For

  • Points expire after 18 months of inactivity. Any earn or redeem transaction resets the clock — one grocery shop is enough.
  • Boosts don't apply retroactively. If you forgot to activate before shopping, those bonus points are gone. This is the most common complaint.
  • "Member prices" aren't always genuine savings. Consumer NZ found 75% of member specials at Woolworths could be bought cheaper elsewhere. Don't switch supermarkets just for member pricing.
  • Keep a backup of your card. Woolworths' digital channels have had reliability issues — a physical card or your card stored in SuperCards keeps you covered at the till.

When to Skip Everyday Rewards

  • You shop mostly at PAK'nSAVE. No loyalty programme, but consistently $14/week cheaper than Woolworths in independent testing. The 0.75% cashback doesn't close that gap.
  • You spend under $100/month at partners. Your annual return would be under $9. Not worth thinking about.
  • You're choosing between supermarkets purely on loyalty. New World Clubcard offers the same 0.75% effective return with arguably better member pricing. Pick your supermarket on price and convenience first, then use whichever loyalty card matches.
