What Was the Subway Subcard?
The Subcard was Subway New Zealand's free loyalty programme — you scanned your card or showed your virtual Subcard at any of Subway's ~150 NZ locations and earned Reward Dollars on every purchase: 3.5% back as in-store credit, plus member-exclusive deals. The Subcard Loyalty and Gift programme closed on 31 August 2026, so the card no longer earns or redeems anything.
When Is the Subcard Worth It?
Not any more: With the programme closed, there is nothing left to earn or spend. The Subcard has no value today.
Recent changes: Earning ended on 30 June 2026. Redemption ended and the Subcard Loyalty and Gift programme closed on 31 August 2026. Gift Dollar refund claims closed on 30 September 2026.
What Happened to Your Balance
Reward Dollars: Earned until 30 June 2026 and redeemable until 31 August 2026. Since the closure they can no longer be spent.
Gift Dollars: Valid, unexpired Gift Dollar balances could be refunded to a nominated bank account, but all refund requests had to be completed by 30 September 2026. That deadline has passed.
Your Subcard login: If you didn't opt in to transfer your account, your previous login is no longer active in the Subway app.
What You Can Do Now
1. Remove the Subcard From SuperCards
The card no longer earns or redeems anything, so scanning it at the till achieves nothing. Delete it from SuperCards so you don't reach for it out of habit.
2. Create a New Subway Login
If you didn't opt in to transfer your account, your previous login is no longer active in the Subway app. Create a new Subway login instead.
3. Expect Deals, Not Credit
Subway says the Subway app is here to stay with app-exclusive deals. Those deals need the app, and there is no Subcard credit to earn alongside them.
